The Community-Based Waste Management System in Mae La camp has improved sanitary conditions. COERR also coordinated closely with the Mae La Thai village local community administration (Or Baw Tor) and Forestry Department of Ta Song Yang District to maintain the Mae La Solid Waste Diversion and Treatment Center at Mae La Thai village where solid wastes from the camp and  adjacent Thai villages are treated and disposed.
